Master Craftsman of Trumeau Mirror

A passionate and clever Master Craftsman and true passionate about Art, David Jousselin trained to become a wood gilder in Paris. He then opened an antique and piece of art restoration workshop as a gilder in 1990. The establishment was located just near the Bayonne Cathedral, in the south of France, in the heart of the antique dealers' district.

In August 2001, accompanied by his family, he decided to settle in Valencia, Spain. The Master Craftsman then specialized himself in the traditional custom manufacturing and reissue of many pieces of art such as: trumeau mirror, mirror, frame, half-crowned bed canopy, luxury dog bed, door top, pediment, angel, ornaments and other Louis XVI style woodwork.

Design and manufacture of custom woodwork.

The manufacture of trumeau mirror, pediments, door tops and woodwork are tailor-made and in accordance with the Louis XVI period models. However, the production of these works requires significant technological improvements. For example, the manufacture of trumeau mirror moldings involves the use of a component to make them more resistant to impacts. Technological feats are also being achieved on different mechanisms, on hydrometry sensor (humidity, drought) as well as on climatic and thermal aspects (resistance to marine air, air conditioning, heating...). Most trumeau mirrors, pediments, door tops and woodwork can be tailor-made and totally customized. These works of art are then gilded with gold foil and decorated with the color or poly chrome of your choice.

What is a trumeau mirror?

The trumeau mirror is a woodwork presenting in the lower part a mirror and in the upper part a piece of carved wood or a painting. It is generally gilded with gold foil and poly chrome. It is not uncommon to find a trumeau mirror above a fireplace or more traditionally placed above a chest of drawers. The golden age of the trumeau mirror is the 17th century. Want to invest in a trumeau mirror? Surprise everyone by choosing a mix of seductive styles! Choose an old trumeau mirror or a reproduction of a custom-made trumeau mirror made in your Master Craftsman's workshop, then place it in a modern or contemporary decorated living room.

Antique art carpentry made with attention to details.

Your gilder's talent doesn’t stop with the making of trumeau mirror. David Jousselin also works to renovate or create other wooden pieces of art such as door tops, luxury dog beds and bedspreads. Thorough, with a sense of detail and precision, your Master Craftsman strives to make each decoration project a real masterpiece!

David Jousselin thus likes to propose the custom-made realization of door tops, a wooden sculpture executed on a small woodwork and generally found above a door as a pediment or sometimes positioned above a dresser. It is commonly gilded with gold foil and poly chrome. Nowadays, we like to display it on a wall, like a decorative object, like when we place a painting on a wall. Like for the trumeau mirror, it is very interesting to insert a door top in a modern or contemporary decoration. Your gilder craftsman can also create for you a personalized bed for luxury dogs, a real romantic canine case, totally hand-made. Note that this one is available in different sizes and colors. Finally, your Master Craftsman also makes Bedspread, a kind of half-crown usually placed in a bedroom. It hangs on the wall behind a bed like a "bed canopy".
